3 Steps Toward Natural Living, Clarity and Self-Healing
This post was originally intended to be a downloadable PDF, but while we’re getting that ready, we wanted to share it here too. It’s a short guide to removing synthetic chemicals from your life, creating space for healing, and making more aligned, intentional choices.
The core principle is this: start simple.
Begin by removing the things you don’t need. Then, gradually swap the everyday essentials for healthier alternatives, one step at a time.
These three pillars are where we will start:
- What you put in your body
- What you put on your body
- What surrounds your body
1. What You Put IN Your Body
Start by getting curious about everything in your fridge and pantry. Read the ingredients. Where do they come from? How are they processed? What effect do they have on your cells?
You’ll likely find that it all becomes simpler when you strip it back. Whole, single-ingredient foods don’t come with long ingredient lists. When you shop at your local butcher, farmer’s market or organic store, it’s easier to avoid processed, chemical-laden “foods.”
The truth is that many ultra-processed products are designed to look like food but offer little to no nourishment. If it's synthetic, it's not supporting your healing process.
If you're ready to commit to an animal-based or whole food diet and want help getting started, we’ll soon be releasing a free downloadable grocery list to take the stress out of meal planning.
2. What You Put ON Your Body
This is often where people feel most overwhelmed. But again, the first step is awareness.
If you're just beginning your wellness journey, chances are your deodorant contains aluminium, and your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash may be full of hormone-disrupting fragrances and synthetic chemicals. The same goes for makeup, toothpaste, perfume, cologne, menstrual products, and even hand soap.
We know this can feel daunting, but it’s also incredibly empowering. Start by swapping one thing at a time. For our family, we began to realise how many of these products we didn’t truly need at all, which made the process much easier.
We’re working on a list of tried and tested product swaps to support you in making these changes affordably and effectively.
Remember, this isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress. Every small change counts, and you don’t have to do it all at once. Your body will thank you for each step you take.
3. What Surrounds Your Body
Look at the air and surfaces around you. Do you have:
- Synthetic air fresheners
- Plug-ins or aerosol sprays
- Scented candles or perfumes
- Chemical-laden cleaning products?
These items can be highly disruptive to your endocrine system. If your health is a priority, it’s time to let them go. There are healthier, more natural alternatives that still allow your space to feel clean and inviting.
Some easy swaps include:
- Stovetop simmers with herbs and citrus peels
- Essential oil diffusers
- Homemade cleaning products using white vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and castile soap
(Always research natural cleaning recipes before mixing ingredients, as not all combinations are safe.)
We’re also working on a homemade cleaning recipe guide you can use to replace conventional products and reduce your exposure even further.
When it comes to environmental exposures you can’t avoid, take practical steps. For example, when handling petrol or diesel, we use thick leather gloves to avoid skin contact and stay mindful of fumes. These small adjustments matter.
Let Your Body Do What It Was Designed To Do
Your body already has powerful, built-in detoxification systems. You don’t need to live in fear. But by reducing your exposure to synthetic chemicals and supporting your body in gentle, consistent ways, you allow it to direct energy toward healing.
Day by day, drawer by drawer, cabinet by cabinet, we’re creating an environment that allows the body to breathe, reset and repair. Over time, this becomes less of a checklist and more of a lifestyle.
When wellness becomes your rhythm, it’s natural, sustainable and feels good.
You Have the Power to Heal
This is the message we are most passionate about: everyone has the power to heal, we just need to get out of our own way.
