I think this comment might cut deep for a lot of chronically ill people but know that this comes from a place of love, from my own experience with it, not from judgement.
You have made being chronically ill your entire personality, and it’s your comfort blanket. You’re holding onto it for dear life, because your brain has convinced you that this persona that you are keeping up is making you feel safe.
Chronic Illness Is Common, But Not Normal
Chronic illness is so common but hear me when I say this: it is not normal, and you don’t have to put up with it.
Most who have lived with a chronic illness or any sort of autoimmune disorder will tell you that it is exhausting, extremely isolating, and everything else in life comes second.
The pain, the fatigue and the discomfort always come first. They are always going to control every aspect of your life.
That is… until you decide it doesn’t.
It Starts With a Belief Shift
Believe me, I know that sounds naïve, or maybe even ignorant, but it’s true. And because of this safety net that you have created for yourself, you’re too terrified to admit it.
You say you would do anything to feel normal again. You’ve spoken to so many doctors and specialists. You’ve trialled all the medications. You take painkillers like tic-tacs.
But if you’re really serious about ripping this ugly, unwanted part of your life out at the root, then you need to gently but firmly, snap out of it.
You need to come back to yourself and listen to your body. You need to understand that your body holds so much power within, and it is trying to communicate to you, through your symptoms, that something is really not right.
You don’t need to book another appointment. You don’t need more medication.
You need to tap in.
You need to pay attention.
Let’s Rewire: From Illness to Vitality
So let’s do it, let’s rewire your brain and turn you into someone who is well. Someone who is strong. Someone who is full of energy and life.
How? That’s so farfetched, right?
It’s not. I promise. You can do it.
But before the changes can happen, the first thing you need to do is believe it.
You need to have faith in your incredible body. It was designed to heal. It wants to heal.
And you need to start repeating that to yourself, every single day, until your brain believes it.
“I am getting stronger and healthier every day.”
“My body is healing.”
“My sleep is restorative.”
If My Body Is So Powerful… Why Hasn’t It Healed Yet?
Because there are so many things in the way.
Healing is not easy, but it is simple:
- Gratitude
- Positivity
- Real, nourishing, whole foods
- Getting out in the sun
- Gentle, intentional movement
- Slowing down
These things used to just happen naturally. We didn’t even have to think about them. But the way modern life has evolved has caused so many interruptions, to our body, mind, and spirit. To the biological processes that keep us thriving.
So now, we need to be more intentional, and we need to go looking for these things.
Healing Happens One Small Shift at a Time
It won’t happen overnight, but you can make it happen.
One small, mindful shift at a time.
Start to move slower.
Start to breathe deeper.
Start your day with a grateful thought and carry that energy with you throughout your day.
Affirm as you drift off to sleep that you are strong and healthy.
What You Eat Matters
Consider what you are eating.
Cut out the trigger foods:
- Seed oils
- Refined sugars
- Additives
- Ingredient lists full of numbers
These things are new, and our body doesn’t recognise them. It’s not what nature intended.
Instead, eat:
- Quality grass-fed meat
- Pasture-raised eggs
- Raw dairy
- Raw honey
- Spray-free fruit
This is all you need, a delicious, well-rounded diet, full of all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes that your body needs to support its natural healing processes.
It cuts out all of the most common trigger foods in one fell swoop.
It sounds scary. It sounds like way too big of a change.
But if you are serious about improving your health, it’s the best way to see results fast, to give your body relief from all these synthetic ingredients so it can better use that wasted energy on healing… on restoration.
Reduce Your Toxic Load
Pull everything out of your cupboards, one by one. Go through every single one.
Ask yourself:
- Does my deodorant contain aluminium?
- Is my home full of endocrine-disrupting synthetic fragrances?
- Are my cleaning products full of harsh, toxic chemicals?
- Is my cookware leaching plastic into my food?
It’s a lot to take in, yes. But it’s so important to understand:
Every single one of these things is introducing foreign, unrecognised, toxic particles into your body.
Your body is exhausted from trying to break it all down.
If you truly want to heal, you need to reduce your toxic load.
Your Body Is Already Fighting For You
Does that not help you understand how amazing your body is?
All of these things we come into contact with in our daily lives, things that nature never intended for our bodies to have to deal with, yet your body is still tirelessly working away to break them down and detox them from your system.
But when you consider a lifetime of this, the symptoms start to make sense.
Your body is trying so hard to keep you functioning, and it’s screaming for some help.
It’s time to listen.
It’s time to put the work in.
To give your body the respect it deserves.
And to give yourself the best gift, the gift of realigning with your body, your mind, and your spirit.
You are going to feel relief from this.
You are going to be well, and strong.
You just need to get out of your own way.
