I was in our local op shop, because right at the beginning of our day, my little one had broken her shoe. We were looking for something for her to wear, but nothing fit. A staff member must have overheard us talking. She approached with the sweetest intention and said,

“I wonder if these might fit her. If so, you’re more than welcome to take them. They’ll just be going in the bin… they aren’t our usual quality.”

I looked at the pair of shoes. No damage. No tears. Maybe worn only a handful of times.

I was blown away that they were destined for landfill.

Encore was born from a simple but powerful truth: every day, across Australia, perfectly usable items are discarded and sent to landfill.

Clothing with minor flaws. Homewares with small imperfections. Pieces that could be repaired, repurposed, gifted, or resold to support meaningful causes, yet instead, they are thrown away.

These items deserve a second chance.

And so do the communities they could support.

Our Mission

Encore exists to reduce unnecessary waste while strengthening community care.

Through thoughtful collection, repair, repurposing, and redistribution, we aim to:

  • Divert usable goods from landfill

  • Ensure genuinely unusable items are disposed of in a more sustainable and mindful way

  • Support families and individuals experiencing hardship

  • Create fundraising opportunities for Ren Wellness initiatives

  • Encourage mindful consumption and circular living

  • Collaborate with values-aligned not-for-profits and small businesses

This initiative reflects our belief that holistic health, for ourselves and for our planet, goes hand in hand. Caring for our beautiful earth is an act of love and mindfulness.

How We Create Impact

Encore works in collaboration with local op shops, community organisations, and small businesses that share a vision for sustainability and social impact.

Together, we:

  • Rescue discarded items that still hold value

  • Repair and restore clothing and goods wherever possible

  • Creatively repurpose materials into something new

  • Resell repurposed products to raise funds supporting our broader wellness initiatives

  • Gift essential items to those in need

Through partnership and local collaboration, we are working toward a more circular and conscious community model: one where less is wasted and more is shared. A step closer to living the way nature intended.

How You Can Get Involved

Encore is a community-powered initiative. As we grow, there are many ways to contribute:

  • Volunteer at sorting, repair, or repurposing sessions

  • Assist with the collection and delivery of items in need of repair

  • Offer sewing, mending, or creative upcycling skills

  • Partner with us as a local business or organisation

  • Support by purchasing repurposed pieces (when available)

  • Register to receive repurposed fabrics and materials for your own small business or personal creations

  • Help spread awareness about mindful consumption
